Our Legal and Charitable Status

Agape Community Pantry Ltd (ACN 689 264 033) is a registered Australian charity and a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. Our organisation is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), meaning all donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible. Donors may claim their contributions at tax time under Australian Taxation Office guidelines.We operate under a formally approved Constitution and comply with the governance and reporting requirements of ASIC, the ACNC and the Corporations Act. As a registered charity, all income and assets must be used exclusively to advance our charitable purpose.

Our Purpose

Food insecurity causes significant physical, mental and social distress for individuals and families. Agape Community Pantry exists to relieve this suffering by providing consistent access to food and essential items. We operate a community pantry that offers free or low-cost groceries to people experiencing financial hardship.Our work includes coordinating food distribution, partnering with other charities to source donated or affordable goods, training volunteers, and connecting individuals with community services that reduce their vulnerability to food insecurity. Our long-term aim is to support not only immediate needs but also the underlying factors that contribute to ongoing hardship.

What We Do

Agape Community Pantry provides direct food relief through weekly pantry operations offering both fresh produce and essential groceries. We work closely with local organisations to reach vulnerable individuals, including those with unstable incomes or limited access to support networks.Our volunteers play a vital role in collecting, sorting and distributing goods. We are expanding our services to include preventative programs such as budgeting support, health referrals and long-term community partnerships. Our strategic priorities include increasing accessibility, extending operating hours, enhancing the variety of available food items and strengthening community engagement.

Governance and Transparency

Agape Community Pantry is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee compliance, financial accountability and strategic direction. Directors must act in the best interests of the charity and uphold all obligations under the ACNC and Corporations Act.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Agape does not distribute profits to members. All funds are reinvested into community programs. If the organisation is ever wound up, any remaining assets must be transferred to another charity with similar objectives. Our governance framework, including director duties and financial management requirements, is outlined in our official Constitution.

Strategic Goals (2025–2030)

Agape’s strategic direction focuses on strengthening both immediate and long-term community impact. We aim to serve more families, increase pantry accessibility, improve food quality and variety, and deepen relationships with local suppliers and partner organisations.Over the longer term, we are working to build sustainable partnerships with supermarkets, farmers and food distributors to secure consistent food donations. We also plan to expand preventative services addressing broader causes of food insecurity, ensuring individuals and families are supported holistically.
